Er 2 - Er + quantity

Explanation

Er + quantity

Er is combined with a quantity when the noun that belongs to the quantity is left out. In the table below, you find the nouns in bold. In every second sentence the noun is left out and er appears in front of the quantity.

  • Ik heb drie katten.
  • Ik heb er drie.   
  • Hoeveel apps heb jij op je telefoon?
  • Ik heb er negentien. 
  • Hoeveel koffiemokken heb jij?
  • Ik heb er meer dan jij.
  • Hoeveel boeken heb jij?
  • Ik heb er een heleboel.
  • Hoeveel vakantiedagen heeft Carla?
  • Zij heeft er niet veel, maar zij heeft er meer dan Peter.

As shown in the examples, the quantity is not necessarily a number.
